A few shots of my daughter Caitlin at the Snowbowl this past Sunday. The smile on her face tells everything and for me it was the best day of the year. This was her 1st day skiing this year. She had ACL/ meniscus surgery the day after Xmas. We said we were only going to do 1 run but it turned out to be about 1.5 hours. Stayed on our easy green trails and just slid around the mountain. She really needed this and so did dad. She had tore up her ACL and meniscus on the last day of field hockey practice the night before the team played and won the state D1 championship. We did not know the extent of her injury (were hoping for a sprain) but she dressed for the game but did not play, quite the bummer for the end of the season. Then it was compounded the next week when the diagnosis came in, but she has worked hard at pre surgery and post surgery physical therapy and it has paid off. She probably won't be out again this year, really needed the right conditions, packed groomers with no slush and few people and that's what we had Sunday. She now has 14 straight years on snow, I had started her at 2 and she will be an incredible ski buddy for the long term. I promised her a trip to Jackson Hole to get her mind into the hard work she needs to do to get back but might be thinking the Gathering at Big Sky instead.
