Nice video and I bet Stephanie had a blast.  Nothing like a soft snow day for her to get her ski legs !

Good, you saved the snow for us. biggrin.gif

Shall I bring you the Dakotas?

Not really, though people were venturing into areas that you really didn't want to ski pre-storm.

I  know, I know, but I have touchy lungs. Last time I tried to gut out a cough (at ABasin, no less), I ended up in bed for 5 days, and useless for another week after that. I'm trying to be smart. It's difficult, but I'm trying. :-)

Oh, do I wish I needed them. You should see me on my skinny skis, four or five days in a row now... Maybe even six. Such a sad state of affairs.

There was a bit of unofficial talk about this on the lift indicating that it seemed ski patrol was doing some leg work on some closed areas.

I saw a bit of poaching under the Lenawee chair- the funniest was a girl who practically tripped on the rope following her bf and then proceeded to do a complete face about 20 yards into the run.

Ya I don't usually watch those for very long but I watched the whole viddy and it was cool to see the progression, from the instructor skiing backwards coaxing her along to following her on those catracks. I'll bet she was stoked. Nice skiing, glad you posted it.

Yep! What did she think about all of this?

Well, I like them just fine. I don't have a lot to compare them to, however, except the Heads that I skied a few runs on earlier in the season. (Supershape Magnum? something green) The tail on the Heads (heh heh) was more rebound-y, but I can get a little kick out of the Dynastars, too. In fact, as fun as the Head's tail (heh) was , it was a little scary sometimes. boing!

Otherwise I can't tell you any differences. They do what I want them to, even make it snow!! Lately that hasn't worked so well, but it worked great for a while. Maybe I shouldn't have skied them and then left them all alone after it snowed. I probably hurt their feelings ... damn.

oh ... I just remembered something ... I took them into some not-so-nice frozen crud (sugar-coated chicken heads) the other day, and was actually really surprised at how well they handled it. I didn't get nearly as much feedback as I was expecting. They mashed that coral pretty well, whereas on my lighter and wider skis, I definitely ride up and feel it more.  Again, not a comparison with other narrow skis so much, but ...

She has definitely enjoyed it...when we were doing the beginner areas at Copper, she said she wanted to go on the bigger lifts and she wouldn`t let her instructor take her back to Molly Hogan once she had gone up the Quad.  Today her dad is making some calls for work, but the plan was to go to LL.

Why choose? K rode from Breck to Copper and back on Wednesday. She had to walk a few spots in the Ten Mile Canyon, but the rec path is clear except briefly after a snow. You could go sailing while your at it. The lake is clear, too.

Basin is reporting 3" today on top of 1" yesterday (and 16" over the weekend).

Skied their yesterday afternoon and things were mostly firm as the day before had been warm and the sun wasn`t out long enough to loosen things up except for a bit down by the bottom.  Coverage is better than it was a week ago, but they still have less than 1/3 the mountain open.  Another good dump would help them to reopen a few things, but it is suppose to be warm and sunny until at least the middle of next week so...

A-basin is a special place in my heart.  I just know something magical is going to happen.

I've got a similar dilema.  The skiing is pretty lousy and I have a big goal on the bike.  Missing a weekend ride day has a pretty high opportunity cost.  Yet I might come for a day -- perhaps I can ride Loveland Pass both ways and then get a few turns in.  Keep me apprised of the plan.

Talk to DonDenver. He was talking about bringing a bike, too.

Yeah, I'm also considering having Don drag me up the pass one day. Someone's gotta ride sweep. ;)

I might be able to make it up for a while on Friday (have to get at least some work done, too); I'm in the OR on Monday and Tuesday, so that won't work. I'll do my best- hope to see some of you up there!

We skipped Tuesday, but she continued to make progress at Loveland on Wednesday- pretty good turns for someone with less than 10 hours of skiing under her belt.

I was playing in the park...and I treated a kicker like a floater, ended up landing back a little bit hyper extending my knee.

A huge difference today from last week. The warm weekend took its toll on the new snow and things are looking kind of grim. They had to farm half of lower Sundance to cover the other half. Total spring conditions, I can't see more than a week of good skiing and two weeks total max if the temps stay this warm. Hope I'm wrong.
