A-basin 2012 Mothers day???

It is getting to be that time of year again, A-Basin for Mothers Day! Sure, we could post pics from prior years....but that could be incriminating. This year Mothers Day falls on May 13th. We usually start the festivities on the Thursday prior. So, let the sex, lies and videotape conversations start about what could be the funnest near closing weeks of the season.

Just a thought ... but with this year's lower snowpack and the later date of "official" Mother's Day, is there any consideration to using the end of April/ first weekend in May instead? Changing it to unofficial Mother's Day might also improve the ability of some to get away for a ski day on official Mother's Day.

 

Please forgive me if this is a blasphemous suggestion, however. I will be here, regardless.

If it's M-day weekend I'll definitely do the Fri-Sat swing through.  As usual I don't expect to get a Mother's Day "get out of jail" free card wink.gif, so if the scheduling does actually shift to the weekend before then I can attend more days.

I haven`t had too good a luck with skiing A-Basin outside the regular (Nov-April) season, but the knee is feeling pretty good, so maybe I will chance it. 

 

A bit confused by the thread title...

A-basin 2013 Mothers day???

I know that time flies and if the weather doesn`t cool off here it might be best to golf instead of ski Mothers Day 2012, but you do mean this year, not next, right?

I'm partial to keeping the date the same, also. I mean, A-Basin will still be open. It won't be skiing as well as last year, but eh -- that weekend is as much about the beach and hanging out as it is about the skiing, anyways.

Less skiing..more beach and hot tub time???...BooYAH!! Hmmm can we get a hot tub to the beach?

Yes, you can. One year I was there a group had a hot tub mounted on the back of a flatbed truck. They also had a band on the truck, and threw a pretty sweet costume wedding to boot.

Ya seriously.  I dont care if the skiing isnt half as epic as last year at Mothers Day.  Its about the beach and hot tub party :D

 

If the event happens any other weekend I probably cant get out there.

 

Now if we can just figure out how to get the hot tub to the beach...

Well, I've already reserved the Friday May 11th off from work and Saturday the 12th is my birthday. So I'm partial to that weekend.  BUT, there is a remote chance I'll be sent to a meeting in, of all places, San Francisco,  for the following week which would mean I'd take the weekend before to explore the city as I've never been.

There used to be a business in Summit County somewhere (Breck I think) that did in fact deliver hot tubs.  They may still be out there.

 

One caution though....ask if the tub is operated via generator.  The noise could really frustrate the drunks to the left and right of you and cause a problemduel.gif....or just lots of folks using the tub beercheer.gif

When do people plan on attending for Mothers Day, Thursday and leaving Monday? We will be driving in and maybe stopping at Snowbird on the way.

That's why you hire a band!!!

There's a yellow pages ad in the local DEX under hot tub rentals that lists "instant hot tubs" with a Gypsum phone number: 970) 390-2450. No listings for rentals in the other books.

Monique wants to be in MI by Mother's Day, so I can't help, just like I can't ski :~(

That's a good point ... it's much larger, too. Not as close as the Beach, but there is a grill out there, as well. Hike Copper?

Looks like we are going to keep Mothers Day weekend since there are a few repeat offenders that have already put in for that in to get off at work. With that said. It looks like a 4 day weekend with people arriving Wed-Thurs and going back on Monday. We are in the process of looking at a shack (and a damn SWEET one at that) that could be EMDC (Epic Mothers Day Central).
