changing the flex in boots

I have a pair of Tecnica Dragons that I bought last year at Cheristy Sports in Vail.  I like them better than any other boots I've had in 40 years of skiing; they feel snug, but don't put my toes to sleep, a problem I've often had.  Yesterday, an instructor ski buddy (from whom I've taken many lessons over the past 20 years) suggested that I was having trouble flexing my boots enough (even though she could see that I was working at bending my ankles), which was causing chatter in my ski tips.

We'll be at Breckenridge soon, and I can go to Christy Sports there.  Is there something you can recommend that they do to loosen/soften the flex?  Thanks!

do they have any screws on the rear spine that you can remove to see how softer feels?

I haven't looked, but I will.  Is that something I (and by that, I mean DH) can do at home?  Will it have any other effect on the boots?  Thanks for your response!

We stopped into Christy Sports when we arrived in Breck; they pulled out the bolt, replaced it with a plastic plug, and gave us the bolts and the tool to re-insert them.  No charge.  I didn't personally notice a diffrence, so I'll have to see if my ski instructor/buddy does next season.
