Best place to bum the next 6 weeks - i.e. odds of most dumpage in March/April?

This is a repost from TGR - but of course as usual over there I get only joking replies.  Alaska is on the table as well.  But I am 99% sure that if I take the four days to drive there it will stop snowing as soon as I roll across the state line from Canada and it won't snow again until next winter.

So I've got a big writing project to finish, I'm in decent shape, winter seems to finally be here. A small rented room to write in, and powder every other day seems to be in order. What I'd like is:

1 - access to some uncrowded resorts in a region with really dry snow
2 - multiple local cat and heli operators so I can occasionally splurge on a standby cat/heli day.

The two locales on the list at this point are SLC or Nelson, B.C. Both are great places and I could be happy with the snow either place. Alta/Snowbird get tracked quickly but I love Powder Mountain - too mellow for some here but totally deserted. Powder all day for cheap.

Given current weather conditions where am I likely to find the most pukage during March and early April? I gotta make a decision soon, pack up the SUV and roll the dice here - storm chasing all over the continent for the next six weeks isn't really an option. But driving several hours from my base to a different area that got more snow is doable. i.e. driving from nelson to revelstoke if it gets hit, etc.

Nelson, BC seems like a good fit if you have the funds to cat/heli. Most of the resorts nearby end their season first weekend of April though.

I think Nelson would be a lot nicer, but obviously, SLC would probably be a lot cheaper?

Snowbird did start selling the spring pass yesterday for $500?

Was in rossland/nelson/revelstoke earlier this season for a few days - didn't seem any pricier than Utah.  But it is a lot further away and more remote.

Sounds like you already figured it out. Nelson is the call for heli/cat opportunities. I don't what snow is like there this time of year. Cottonwoods are a pretty safe bet for that time frame in terms of snow. Not as much heli/cat action as BC, but you do have a couple operators around.

What type of writing project?

I would check out Mt. Baker , WA.

The OP wants:

1. Really dry snow.

2. Multiple heli and cat ski operations.

He doesn't want Baker.

Easy one AK... not even a question.

Alaska sounds like what you need.
