Factory Tune on Volkl Racetiger SL ?

Just picked up a pair of new 08/09 Volkl Racetiger SLs. These supposedly come from the factory with a 1 degree base & 2 degree side. I plan on retaining the 1 degree base but I'm curious as to the quality/accuracy of the factory base angle. Can I assume it's pretty good and therefore just use my diamond & polishing stones or should I use a file and 1 degree base bevel to be sure. I've been told that Atomic & Volkl skis come with great factory edges and all I need to do is maintain them. I don't want to take a file to the base unless it's necessary. Input appreciated. Thanks

Give it a bit of diamond stone and take it for a ski before you start breaking out the files.

You can check what your base edge is approximately at with the 60mm true bar technique, and as for determining side edge, all you need is a sharpie and a file guide.

Factory bevels can be anything - depends on how much the finishing tech had to drink the night before, or how well maintained their equipment is.

Ski it first!.  Don't touch the base if you can avoid it.  If it is less than 1 degree, you might actually like it (I use 0.5 on a slalom ski).  If it is already at 1 degree. taking a file or a diamond to it will not help.
