FISCHER VS ROSSIGNOL

Totally confused looking to purchase either the the Fischer Motive 88, Watea 84 or the Rossignol Experience 88, I'm a mainly East Coast Skiier, want a ski to plow thru the powder on those west coast trips and crud days back east, currently on the Fischer Motive 80 C-Line, love them, but want just a little bit more width under the foot. Any thoughts?

The Watea 84 is very different than the other two, I doubt it would suit what you're describing.  The Rossi Exp 88 has been getting some excellent reviews and comments around here.

 

The experts here can provide more detailed feedback to you, but they'll need some info from you first.....your height/weight, experience/skill level, do you like trees/groomers, style of skiing, etc.  Any info you can provide will help nail down what would suit you.

Thanks for feedback, I'm 5'11", 212 lbs, I'm a advanced intermidate skier, love the groomers, but like to venture off every now and then, love sharp short turns and turn it up, and sometimes cruise with big turns, not really a bump guy, but want a ski to get me in and out of them. Thanks.

My money would be on the Rossi 88.  Perhaps some others can weigh in with more.....experience.  Seriously, didn't not mean that pun.

Actually the Motive 80 sounds like a pretty good ski for you.  Are you planning to keep it and have a 2 ski quiver?  If so, a wider more powder oriented ski might make more sense.

 

FWIW I rode a lift in Colorado a couple of weeks ago with 2 guys who both owned E88s but were on other skis.  They both were very unhappy with the E88s - complained about the weight - and said they rarely used them.   I would demo.

I'd second the recommendation to demo the E88s before buying.  Mixed views.  Some like 'em, some don't.  On another thread I recently posted on my experience demo'ing them (see thread:  http://www.epicski.com/t/102331/review-2012-rossignol-experience-88/30#post_1438465).  Was not a fan despite generally liking Rossi skis.

Thanks alot guys, gonna stick with my fischers found a good deal on the Motive 88's and will keep the Motive 80's.

Weight helps with crud. F=MA. And the E88 is heavy? huh. Hadn't heard that one before. What were the snow conditions the day you were riding?
