Why are race bindings so heavy? - Page 3

Why do race bindings release at all? Aksel Svindal almost died from being impaled by his ski. If a DIN over 20 makes an injury likely and over 10 is off charts, what is the real safety benefit from a release? This is a seriously debated topic in waterskiing.

Aman, get a modern ski. All the high end skis turn tighter, hold an edge better and are lighter than the G3. Plus the bindings are safer - even if they don't release.

I skied on a couple, maybe they were too big, not a fan, really slow to edge but will try more this summer. I love my old O'Brien Advantage double boots! I gotta to admit I would like  bit of an angle on the rear boot to take some torque off my left knee (Yep, I'm right foot forward!)Hate all that lace up stuff.

Call me old skool!  Guilty as charged!

That's an old pic, but you get the idea.  I've got four pairs of 916s and a pair of DR9s In reserve.
