Telluride vs. Durango Mountain Resort (purgatory)???

Thread Starter

I am going to be flying into durango this weekend and only staying for the weekend so 2 full days of skiing.

I have the option of skiing both days at telluride or doing sat at DMR and sunday at telluride.

Is DMR worth a day or should I spend both at Telluride??

If you like skiing groomers, DMR is fun. It has a very unique layout.  If I were in your situation, I would go to Telluride both days. The place is huge with spectacular terrain and views.

If you consider yourself an expert, don't even think about DMR.  It is very flat with no sustained steep pitches.  Telluride is 5 times the ski mountain Purgatory is, although the lodging and ticket prices are considerably more.  Forecast is for a foot to a foot and a half of new snow in the next 36 hours, with possibly another storm coming in for the weekend.  I predict you'll be amazed with Telluride. It is in good shape right now with coverage much better than the base number would normally indicate.   I'll probably be there myself.

Yeah, if it were me, I'd do both days in Telluride, hands down. It has plenty of terrain to keep you entertained for two days, not to mention some of the best scenery in Colorado.
