Theyre in pIMAG2355.jpgIMAG2354.jpgretty good shape with Lange S1S bindings. There is a streak across the front of one ski that looks metallic. It is superficial and light colored. Would it be a bad idea to use steel wool to buff out these type of imperfections? Also, the bindings are set for a size 13 boot and I wear a 10. Anyone know how I could adjust a Lange S1S? Thanks if u can suhgest anything :) Kurt

Nice score. A household cleaner like Vim will get all the grime and most marks off. A powdered cleaner like Comet (something that promises not to scratch) works on the heavier marks. If that does not work and you want to try steel wool, be careful. It may look worse than the mark.  A good quality wax remover will remove tape residue but sometimes it takes all day and rubbing occasionally  with just your fingerprints and fingernails. Can't help with the bindings but would like to see a picture.

I would go at it like car paint.

 

No need to jump to the steel wool, if you have car paint products like polishing, cutting creme, or even swirl-reducing cleaner wax handy, you can try that.  

Or barring these items, use toothpaste (paste not gel), or baking soda(with water to make a paste) as your abrasive.

 

Then again, it's just superficial, so it doesn't matter; but if you're going through the effort to clean them up, might as well shine them up proper like.

 

If you want to go at it aggressively, you can still approach it with auto paint techniques;  where you'd wetsand it and progress through the grits of paper  400grit (if necessary), 800grit, 1000,2000 for example, then cutting creme, then fine polishing.

Was thinking the same thing. His do not have the same bases as top sheets like yours.

I have both pairs of the skis in this picture. I also have the Hart Javelins..... :)

The top sheet difference is because the Dark almost Broncos Orange is the basic Cheeseburger, the other, lighter top sheet with black and white lettering is the Cheeseburger Deluxe. The deluxes are the badder better.....

I found the Mr Clean?  Magic Erasure works wonders on ski cleaning.  gets all the grime out of scratches it light colored skis and really makes them look nice.  I usually use a little bit of Simple Green to wet it.  after they are clean and dry I wax the tops with plain old turtle wax.  the past or hard style not the liquid.
