hi, Memebers.

i'm plannig Mont Tremblant ski trip from NYC.

i'm carrying hard shell case ( for 2 pairs) for flight and have to rent a car from Montreal airport.

i was going to rent mini Van or SUV but, their rate is so much expensive than what i expected.

do you think the hard shell case will fit on back seat of any economy or mid size car?

the case length will be around 170cm- 172cm.

since non of my friends incl me has no car in city, i have nothing to measure or try.

does any member has an idea or experience?

pls, advise kindly.

You should call the specific rental location you are going to rent from and speak with a person there.   It depends if the car has flip down seats or at least a ski pass-through (although the pass-through maybe too small for your doublecase)

I'm pretty confident that the hard case will NOT fit in the back seat in a economy car.  I had to flip the rear seat down, and move the front seat forward in order for the case to fit.  I recall it was a 4 door Mazda 3 (?), though my memory could be a little off on the car model.

My skis are 172s.

so, you mean it'll fit as long as the car rear seat is adjustable to be fliped?

thx for the tip, raytseng &whitestar77.

Just bring a pair of Dakine tie down straps in case it doesnt  - strap it to the roof.  A buddy and I did that for a week in a cadillac out in Hood River, OR with windsurfing boards masts gear on top.  Run the straps inside the car across the headliner and roll up windows.  instant rack.  YMMV

also depends on the car too, if it can float over the middle or if you have to sacrifice the front passenger seat too.

Only so much can be solved on the internet and by computers.

You'll get your problem solved thorugh a more human interaction.   Call ahead and talk to the actual rental desk person and let them know your concern and even put the special request or note into your reservation ticket.

If they have any concept of customer service they'll try to help you out.

They may have ski racks even (although might be for an extra fee that you might want to avoid)

Similarly when the people get there, bring it up again at the desk and talk to the person about what it is you want.

Of course, like that episode of Seinfeld, sometimes the car reservation means nothing.
