Whistler-Blackcomb Fresh Tracks Question

Hello All,

I am traveling with friends to Whistler for the first time and we are looking at the logistics of trying to make it to Whistler Village side before 7am for the "Fresh Tracks" program while staying slopeside on Blackcomb. From reviewing the bus schedule for the "Village Shuttle/Beachlands" it looks like it does not begin operations before 7am so we are looking for options on how to get over to Whistler Village that does not include driving or taking a taxi.

Our first idea was just to ski to base of Blackcomb and walk but we noticed we are close enough to "Village Run" we could hike across and ski down that green run to Whistler Village. Is there any rules at Whistler that would not allow us to do that hike and ski down that run before 7am?

Thanks!

I don't know about any rules, but nobody would stop you.  If you can skate it instead of walking then you won't posthole the run.  If you have to climb up and need to take your skis off then go up the extreme side of the run and skate across when you get up high enough.

It's not that far of a walk from Blackcomb Base to Whistler Village, but skiing is lots easier than walking in ski boots if it's an option.

I did the Fresh Tracks a couple of years back. I parked in Parking lot  6 and skied down village run at about 5am. Yes -first time skiing in

pitch dark. kind of funky. SO yes - you can ski village run early in the morning.

But here's the thing. FT is a waste of time and money. There is a long line even at 6 in the morning. And when you get up - even if you skip the free breakfast to stay in line - you will get one run - may be two.

The smartest move on powder day is to head to Blackcomb.  Wizard opens at 830. the gondola - if I am not mistaken - starts running at 8am. You can get to Excelerator by 815-830. You will get many more fresh runs here than at Fresh Tracks on Whistler.

No issue with skiing that run before 7am...all the staff etc do it to get to work.  But to make that run you need to be staying at very top of the Blackcomb benchlands...ie Mariott (ie think it is Mariott).  Anywhere else, ski to the base of Blackcomb, and just walk around the road.  True walking in boots is not fun...but it is not that far, as once you get to the Bus loop, you can put your skis on again, and ski the last 100 m or so to the village gondola.
