Cataloochee At this point could be in the best shape of the season for the southeast Maybe east? Defintely some of the best snowmakers and the amount of snow they can put down is awesome. They have an average base of 38"-71" and they have been open since before Thanksgiving...keep these guys on your list if you looking for a trip to a ski mountain with great ski conditions and snow making capabilities.

I've been there a few years ago.  It's about four hours away from Durham though. Do you get there often?
