Given the current weather forecast, I'd suggest you all consider an earlier meeting time at Squaw on Thursday. If we get the anticipated snows, Bears (and everyone else) are going to want to be in a lift line by 9:00am. There's a chance I may be able to rally for Thursday. If so, I definitely won't be looking for Bears at Dave's at 9:00. I'll be on line somewhere. I'm really bummed I had to cancel on guiding at Alpine on Monday. Blame my ex (that's what I'm doing).

Sinecure- if you are driving up Wed night we can try to coordinate, although I am in Tahoe Donner, so ride sharing may not make much sense.

Yes. At very least, I'll be there, and since I'm one of the guides, you won't be on your own.
To be specific:

To be clear, since there are a few places to get coffee, this is the Peet's area on the same floor as the cafeteria, overlooking the main deck -- basically, on the back side of the lodge, looking towards the lifts.
If you want to use day lockers at Alpine, go into the breezeway, which runs through the center of the main lodge, and you'll see a door on the right about halfway up to the day locker room. There are also stairs there that lead up to the cafeteria -- bear left at the top of those and head towards Peet's.

Ok, let's see if I can post through TapATalk... If Thu is a powder day, yes, we will need to meet a bit earlier. Given the limited number of powder days this year, Squaw will be a junk show for the first couple of hours anyway, so with a fairly large group we will just have to accept that we will miss some of the goods. If the snow is really good you'd want to be in the lifeline ideally by 8:30, but 8:45 could be OK too.
Sinecure- if you are driving up Wed night we can try to coordinate, although I am in Tahoe Donner, so ride sharing may not make much sense.
This is being considered.

For Friday (the day at heavenly). Myself and a few others will start at California base lodge. We'll be at the outdoor courtyard near the base of Gunbarrel chair booted up and ready to go at 9. This is a good spot for those coming from town instead of Reno. We have arranged to meet up with the stagecoach crew at the huge mountain map at the base of Dipper chair at 10am. (near east peak lodge). I'll be the guy wearing bright orange ski pants. Another in our group will be wearing a more tasteful orange jacket.

Squaw Thursday morning. Alexn and davluri guiding. let's talk about a die hard group meeting early and collecting more people at 10:30.
Alex and I will be meeting in Wildflour at 8am. I will have my skis in line by then, Funatel if the upper mountain is open, Kt if it's not.
If that doesn't suit, meet me at the bottom of Headwall chair at 10:30 if the upper mountain and headwall is open. If not, bottom of KT at 10:30.
I'm real easy to spot. black pants, black and grey jacket, grey helmet, grey hair, ponytail.
so, let's talk it over.

davluri,
I warned people today that they should get to Squaw early tomorrow if they want to ski good pow. The masses are going to be chomping at the bit to get the goods.
It's not like Northstar where you can roll up at any time and get some fresh tracks. People at Squaw actually care about charging hard. The skiing will be great all day, but some of the best stuff goes off early.
davluri isn't joking about putting his skis in the line at 8am. People do that stuff at Squaw. If you want to earn extra GNAR points, bring a stove and cook breakfast for the KT line. If you don't know what GNAR is, go here and watch it: http://unofficialnetworks.com/gnar/ - it is seriously funny.
See you all tomorrow morning bright and early at Squaw. The upper mountain was all closed today so there should be lots of snow to be had and there should be some fun skiers to watch/chase.
Official meeting spot is Dave's Deli, but Wildflour is right near there. Wildflour baked goods are yummy.
Hopefully we get much/most of the mountain open so we can show bears around in style.

Will be there bright and early as long as some jack-ass doesn't cause the 80 to close on my way up (I'm leaving here before 5am to avoid that sort of thing). White helmet, black / charcoal jacket, orange pants.
Oh, and I dinged up my left foot a little bit playing basketball after work today, so if I look dazed it's just the painkillers mixed with a ton of caffeine.
No worries, there should be plenty of powder tomorrow to catch me when I fall.

Yes, Dave and I are meeting at 8 am at Wildflour. I am not sure how I feel about dumping skis in the lifeline, if you do it and then wait fit the rest of the group up top that kind of does not make sense. Yes, first tracks at Squaw is a blood sport and locals love it but I won't necessarily recommend it to the guests. If Fingers are going you will want to be at KT line at 9 to see the show. If Granite goes there should be some action next to the lifeline. So yes we will want to be at the lift line no later than 8:45. I have pale blue jacket brownish pants black helmet. Probably will be with Davluri. :-)

It just occurred to me that if anyone was planning to pay full price tomorrow at Squaw, they just need to hit up any bears who have a season pass (me, davluri, Alexzn, Phil, Tricia, others). Any one of us can get you a 1/2 price day ticket.
Add Hairfarmr and Vet to the list of season pass holders with buddy passes

First chair at Far East at 8:45 is the place to be at Squaw tomorrow. Fast laps and you can get three freshies before the KT line lets you load. Forget the Red Bulls and bring the lifties juice boxes (how many points for that?) and you can Squallyweenie some awesome powder that is NOT nose to fingers with all those pros (who I am way better than).
So after my three laps, where do I hook up with you guys? Daves Deli? Maybe (if I can wake up that early) I'll swing by Wildflour early and press some ski buddies for Far East (or a guide).
Doesn't EVERYONE have a Squaw pass?

Tromano and I need a pass for Squaw tomorrow. Would someone be able to help us out with a 1/2 price ticket?
Also, can the pass be shared so we can each ski half day?

My 1/2 price ticket is spoken for, as is Philpug's but I think there will be others who have an extra.
When you meet at Daves, Deli, you'll probably get a hook up.

Should be a busy day with sunny weather and lots of fresh.
Sounds good to me. As Cirque says, get there early, coming from Reno we will do our bestest.
The last day is here and quite frankly, I am mentally fatigued but the show must go on!
See you all at Kirkwood for the closing day of the 2012 Gathering @ Lake Tahoe.

We arrived at Kirkwood in just over 1 1/2 hr, at 7:45. Had time to boot up and chill a bit before charging the slopes.
Thanks to all who showed up to guide and share their mountain in its best light.
Thanks to the bears who showed up to be introduced to Beautiful Lake Tahoe.
And, more than anything I want to thank the members of this community for your kindness and friendship. You have made a difference in my life.
Until next year and the 2013 Gathering............(which will be announced soon).
The next meet up I have will be with my pillow.

and that's what this place is all about isn't it? Making turns and friends. I really enjoyed the opportunity to "work" with you Friday afternoon at Heavenly, I'm certain our student was as thrilled as we were with the results. I got a little choked up saying goodbye to my house mates Saturday morning, most of whom I met last year at our April Gathering in Summit County. I would not have met any of these wonderful people if not for EpicSki. Thanks to all the people who hosted events, guided us around and the many of you who waited for me at the bottom.
Thank-you Trekchick and Philpug for everything you did to make this so much fun. Give each other another big hug and a THUNDERCLAP from me.
