Skier died after accident at Hunter??

Last season I saw a skier miss a turn and run head first into one of those heavy wooden fences at Hunter Mtn. There was a long slow evacuation, with a backboard, etc. to the parking lot, where a helicopter took him away.

This year someone I met on the chairlft said they knew the skier, and he subsequently died in the hospital, after some time on life support.

Does anyone know anything about this?

This past weekend, my friend took notice of how high the snow is piled along those fences, and wondered just how many people have flown right over the fence...to death or severe injury.    I think I was there when the copter came to pick up the injured skier.   There was a bad crash this weekend too, they closed off the whole trail as they evacuated, don't know what happened.   But there were no bad crowds, it was actually the best skiing day I have had in a while, snow and crowds were excellent.  Skiing is dangerous, people get hurt and die, sad but true.

A few weeks ago I saw the partrollers helping someone back over one of those fences.

One of his skis stayed on the slope side, the other apparently went over the fence into the trees with him.

They weren't hauling up a stretcher, just helping him climb back up.
