Dilemma: Kastle MX88 in 158 or 168

Hello,

New to the forum world but need opinions on which ski length to buy.  About me:

5'5", 135, aggressive intermediate skier who wants to advance her skills.  Mostly ski in the west, Oregon, Colorado.  80% groomed hills but want to adventure off piste.  I've been told by sales-guy that the 158's will be quicker turning and maybe better in the trees but might not do as well in the pow.  My thinking right now is that I will enjoy the 168s based on what I currently ski and I might 'grow' out of the 158s.

Thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks!

didnator is my wife....so she's obviously female. Not to hijack, but does that matter when choosing skis?

Think the bmx kastle range is aimed at the lighter skier, I have skied the mx 88 168 for the last three seasons , and they are a great ski but quite heavy and in all fairness think the bmx 98 is a better ski for the trees and powder

No I don't think it does.

There are plenty of female specific skis but I think that is more down to aesthetics than performance , weight and power and finess are the major factors

My first thoughts were FX or BMX series, because they are lighter and softer.

Also the LX82 in a 164.  If you are sold on Kastle, this sounds like a better model than the MX for your size and usage, unless you like to ski at speeds over 35 mph.

Go with the 158. They will be more fun and unless you like to travel with your hair on fire....rippin fast....you will be pretty stable with the shorter ski. BUT!!!!!!!!! What is the turn radius of the 158 vs the 168? and what is their construction....sidewall, cap. Is there metal in the ski. How about rocker? If rocker you could go longer. Ok. We can get to the bottom of this to provide options for the best choice.

OP: Welcome. My wife is your weight, 3" taller, low advanced, power style, skis the 168. It's not a tough ski to bring around, not super stiff, very low mass tip. She's demoed other Kastles, prefers the MX's to the LX's.
