You do have great taste.

Toomba, are you referring to my husband's boots?

I loved my RX8s, wish I'd gone right into Flexons rather than the diversion through other boots.

Does anyone know if a 27 or 27.5 liner will fit in a 301mm shell?

^^^^^^ If you're talking Intuition or Thermoflex, then yes.  I regularly upsize my liners.

I need to Up size my boots. Currently I have some Raichle bumble bee flexons in a 301mm shell (with thermoflex 26 liners but they are sliced up) Anyone interested in trading for a 310mm shell? I'm in Los Angeles and can send to swap or I'll buy a pair out right. Need with a 27 or 27.5 liner if it has one.binding boot combo.JPG

OK. I've seen a lot of cool ones, but haven't seen a pic yet of these! Anyone know where they fit in the lineup?

^^^^^^^^^ I think they're from around 1992 (give or take a couple years).

Can someone identify this model and approximate vintage?   the bsl is 307mm which must mean that it's not the same original type shell / full tilt classic

Thanks for your help

oh, you mean these?  i think these are the exact same ones from your pic.

just got them delivered today from someone on ebay.  think they might be too big though. frown.gif

the bsl is 318, but the liner is 10.5.  does anyone know if i could get them to fit me possibly with a 9.5 liner?

also, how would i go about putting on a strap which attaches to the shell?

Strap is easy - just need a T-nut and a screw.  Drill a hole through the top of the rear cuff.  I did it for my son's Flexons and it's definitely needed.  I'm surprised they ever produced any without the power strap.

^^^^^ You do realize that these are not "real" Flexons?  These were an abomination that Raichle produced trying to "improve" the Flexon by making if fit completely differently and most importantly, ski completely differently.

That sounds elitist smile.gif  Btw, my boot fitter convinced me to size down from the 318 I've been skiing. Thank goodness I had a pair minty 9'9 310's in my Flexon stash.

On a side note, does anyone ski these with the original liners?

I skied last season in my original liners, but nabbed some thermoflex liners for this season.  I was fitted in a 310 originally, but have been happier in a 318.  I did get a 310 Full Tilt Classic also for this season, but I'm keeping the old ones too, after all, happy feet are all that matters!

^^^ Maybe we should discuss a 310 for 318 swap.

The liners on those green 9'9s are in great shape with interesting contours inside to hold the heel down plus a real rigid liner tongue. I'll give them a go to start this season.

Anyone want to educate me on these bad boys? The lowers are a matte finish and the tongue is a more rounded shape and super stiff. Got them from an old ski bum / racer in upstate NY.

Well, Whatever they are, they are much wider and fit me better.. but I havent skied on them yet so I guess i'll find out. Curious on how different they ski?  I have actually never used any other boots and have always been on flexon's of some type since I started skiiing other than a rental or two.  I've heard it's harder to load up the tips with progressive flex. They were cheap enough and in good condition to experiment. If these don't work with my NOS liners then I guess I'll get me a 310 shell as I tried to fit a 27 liner in my 301mm shell and it was way too tight.

Regards, Charles

WOW!! Is the "Shattering Flexons" urban myth validated? Maybe, maybe not.

Validated

I wasn't questioning that it happened. Only that ski boot explosion is not unique to Flexons as the thread I linked describes. Your boots did look quite oxidized. Wher did you keep them since 1996?

Anyone know where to get Flexon heel wedges?  I have Kryptons and the heel wedges will pop out in a hard landing.  The flexon wedge's longer arms should stay put.

hi,

Got some some old advertising in reference to the Raichle flexon;

Regarding the thermoflex Palau was involved in Raichle production in the 90's.

They were also manufacturing in the 80's all injected pu spoilers and inner injected liners.

I got heel edges as Palau.was manufacturer too.

i'll try to post them tomorrow.

Just skied on the comp slalom triflex for the 1st time after 30 years on the originals and they fit my high volume foot better (put in nos thermoflex liner). A lot stiffer boot. Once I got used to the different buckles and extra front flaps,I thought they skied in a similar fashion. The 27-27.5 shell is a 307bsl which is shorter than the original that's a 310bsl
