We are spending a week in Utah and I hope I can get some input from fellow skiers (or snowboarders) who have visited already.
Details of the trip are:
March 31 to April 7 Staying 7 nights at the Hyatt Escala (6 are free so I can’t beat the price)
My wife is an advanced intermediate as long as there is no ice and the trails are not packed with skiers (she gets very cautious when trails are crowded). She has skied black diamond at Steamboat.
Both my kids are advanced and handle hard trails (Chute 1, 2, 3) at Steamboat.
I have skied advanced trails at Steamboat, Park City, Alta, and Steamboat and ski trails in the East like Paradise (Mad River Glen) and Outer Limits (Killington).
Day 1- Canyons
I have been studying the trail map and have mapped out the lifts on Google Earth. While the Hyatt says Ski in/out it is the Sunrise lift which won’t allow me to get to the upper mountain. Am I wrong here? Is there a way to cut over to Tombstone or Timberline?
Day 2- Powder Mountain
My daughter really wants to ski here and I think my wife will enjoy how empty it supposedly is.
How far of a drive is it from Park City to Powder Mountain or Snowbasin? Google has it at one and half hours roughly but I saw with ski Utah it has it at about 55 mins.
Day 3 Canyons or Deer Valley or Snowbird
Depends on whether my wife skis or not, I want to keep it to a shuttle ride or ski in/out so if anyone (my wife) wants to quit early I can still ski.
Day 4 Off day for wife and kids, Interconnect Tour for me.
Day 5 Snowbasin
My wife will love the amenties (enclosed lifts, lodges) but in studying the trail map seems a lot of experts runs lead to a lesser run to get back to the lift. Skiers flying by my wife will turn her off quickly. Is this the case here?
Day 6 Canyons
End the trip at our base mountain.
In reading all the threads 3 days at Canyons might be a lot, but there is something to be said for just getting in your skis and skiing. And this all goes out the window depending on weather, snow as we get closer to the vacation.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you have for me.
