It's been thin, unstable and windy up our way. Take your pick on what's worse, but what little offpiste we've been able to do this season has been limited by slides up top and poor cover lower down. Authorities have been handing out fines for skiers tackling the classic offpistes at Madesimo in a bid to keep skiers from cracking their heads on the many rocks. I was up on a windy Sunday, so tram was closed for that. I decided to tackle the Canalone from below, my first time ever.
Thin and grim:
Photo break: inventing an excuse to stop.
Funny, this never seemed very steep on the downhill.
Best turns of the season for me, sadly. All told got about 50 pow turns for 1 1/2 hours of slogging. Also dinged up my (that day) brand new Watea 94's a bit at the bottom, hard to avoid the rocks down there.
