Epicski at SIA - Page 3

I hear Jim (starthaus) got taken out by an errant skier while skiing with Bud.

I'd have liked to have heard the conversation, and...

be careful out there! There are some real snowboard hacks in Colorado.

That's pronounced "Paahk" in Bostonian.  For some reason, your SIA trip has spawned Massachusetts accents...so brush up!

Bummer.

Is Jim OK?

Bud tends to attract errant skiers!  ski.gif

Hope Jim didn't get hurt.

Jim seems to be hurt (as in banged up) but not injured (as in broken). He was pretty whipped on the plane ride back tonight and I suspect I may be pulling his boot appointments tomorrow but I (think) it's a short term deal.

Jeez.  Jim, heal quickly and well.

Jim, hope you're OK.

Let's see. I got crashed hard by an errant young man. Now Jim. I saw a bad boarder skier collision yesterday on Siberia Face. Two of my friends have been hit this year. Damn. There really is no way to avoid it, or I'd chime in and say: be careful. What's up out there?

I found the perfect way to avoid collisions with snowboarders.... Ski at Mad River Glen.

guaranteed no snoboarder collisions, although I did have a pine tree jump out at me yesterday.

Sorry to hear it Jim, get well.

Thanks Nolo. Other reports had the smallest version @98. Interesting they'd go all the way down to 92 - seems a bit narrow for a fun shape powder ski.

It's my entirely anecdotal observation that collisions are on the rise. Not sure the statistics are good anyway because so many go unreported unless someone ends up in ER. But I've been hit hard (not brushes) four times in the past five years, twice in the previous 40. Both my kids have been taken out twice in the past season. Two friends have been hit this season. Now this. More often than not, boarders, but not always. Skiing is becoming living pinball. nonono2.gif

Rest of you SIA people, stop acting like wusses; sore bodies from testing on actual natural snow and sleep deprived brains from, ah, other professional activities are no excuse for avoiding your real function in life, which is to feed us bits of info on new equipment so we can become dissatisfied with what we loved until last week. Inhaled Ritalin is very big among the college crowd pulling 48 hour study sessions, must be docs at Tahoe that can write the Rx.
