Best place to ski in PA/NY this weekend

Hey, how is everyones season going? Hopefully I will be starting mine this weekend after coming off hip surgery 5 weeks ago.

Iam heading to vail next weekend, but I would like to a tleast get a few turns in someone before then. I live in New Jersey but I have not skied in Pa in a long time, I usually head up to VT.

I am really just looking for a place that is not going to be to crowded, I can not stand the crazy lift lines at places like camelback. I wont be doing anything to crazy since I am still recovering from my injury, so my main criteria is short lift lines and a decently price lift ticket, any tips would be appreciate. Thanks a lot and enjoy every turn

I ski NY so I can't really speak for PA but Hunter wouldn't be bad.  Holiday Valley would be good, short lines but slow lifts.  Bristol Mountain would be great for you too.  If you want to drive a bunch than Lake Placid would be a great time.

Elk in PA or Plattekill in NY. Neither have fast lifts, but they don't have lines either.

The weekend before the superbowl is typically one of the busiest weekends of the season.

This has been a difficult season in the East.  Plattekill relies on natural snow more than most Eastern areas.  Whiteface has been awful,  and isn't Gore much better.  Hunter will be insanely crowded.  Windham might be the best choice close to NJ.  If you need to ski good conditions, you'll have to drive to Sugarbush or Stowe.

Ive never been to, but heard nothing but great things about 'Ski Plattekill'.  Its off the beaten path of Windam or Hunter, and seems to be more challenging than Bellayre, but then again Ive never been there so take what im saying with a grain of salt.

I heard Plattekill has some nice trees and since its a little further north than Hunter or Windham, you should see significantly less crowds

Plattekill is the best place to ski in the Catskills when there's good natural snow.  There is no natural snow in the Catskills this week.

Elk's snow has not been bad so far, although this week's warm weather won't help any. Elk has been unusually uncrowded on weekends so far this year (i've been there every weekend but last). The weather in Philadelphia  generally determines how crowded Elk will be and with temps in the 50s in the SE PA forecast, I doubt Elk will be busy. I'd also consider Belleayre as a possibility, I haven't been there this year but they have more snowmaking than Plattekill and less crowds than Hunter or Windham.
