Every year we have a few threads from people who want to outsmart the crowds and go skiing on MLK weekend or President's Week, or whatever. Well, I think we may have reached the point where people are outsmarting themselves and staying home to avoid a crowd that is also staying home. Here aare a few iPhone pics that I submit as evidence. I snapped these on days where I was like "where is everybody?".
Stowe's Fourrunner Quad Dec 29 - middle of Christmas Week. Yeah, it was hard to find a seat at lunch, and lessons were booked, but the mountain was pretty dead.
Stowe Parking Lot - Jan 15th Sunday of MLK week. Where is everybody. Saturday was super busy, but it was the first powder day of the year, the crowd was locals descending like locusts, and they were gone by lunch. Monday was even slower. Again, I was riding over the parking lot, and had to whip out the phone because this crowd is smaller than normal midweek, and it was the best conditions of the year.
