Whats you favourite discipline?

Thread Starter

As the title states "Whats you favourite discipline". Is it Downhill, Super G, GS, or Slalom. Personally my favourite is GS

Slalom

GS

GS...

I really only find GS and DH interesting for some reason.

When I'd race SL, if observing any other event.

Many would argue that Super G is in fact a more pure form - no training runs, only one run, put it down the hill and risk it all.

Still, my favorite to race is SL and the favorite to watch is probably GS.

When I used to race, I always got better results in slalom.  However my favorite event is giant slalom.

If I decide to join the club league next year, I will look forward toward the annual Super G event.

Super G may be purest, but GS is considered the most diificult.

Between M. Hirscher doing  incredibly fast turns down the fall line, Ligety with his high edge angles and amazing style, Guay or Cuche making nice arcs@ high speed in SG and of course Bode with hellbent attack mode in DH, what to say.. I like them all.....

As long as is winter and we have ski racing to enjoy.....

Super G is by far the most difficult discipline to even complete a race on the "Bode Miller Alpine Racing" PC game.  I've never completed a SG race.  DH is easy, and GS is hard, but super-G impossible.

Downhill for me. Simple and straightforward. Unlike slalom and GS, downhill is far more mental. Whoever risks the most is in it for the win. It's the only type of race where you need to be all game, unlike the two run events where you can ski conservatively one run or the other to get a field advantage. And it requires strength, both mental and physical. Unlike a slalom, gs, or super g, there is no rhythm. You always have to be on edge and ready for the next part of the course, which requires a great deal of concentration. You can't simply dial into the beat of the music like you can in slalom. To me it is these elements that make DH the best of events.

For my second favourite? Super-G.

Used to be DH and SG, now it's getting to be GS and SL...biggrin.gif

A few weeks ago did some slalom training, and I gotta tell ya I am really liking it...whereas I used to hate it....for one thing its a hell of a lot safer.

SL... by far.

VS, there is absolutely ZERO correlation between real racing and video games.

When I was doing the whole FIS thing, I loved DH and did fine, but always did better in SL and GS. I don't  have any real preference when watching so long as they're skied well.
