Biz Trip to Vegas in Feb...looking for a 1-2 day side trip

Gotta go to Vegas for work Mid Feb.  Trying to line up a side trip/flights for a day or two of skiing on my way back East.  Was thinking either Reno or Salt Lake area.

Not sure if either of those are easy drives from LV so that I could catch a return flight home from either.   Any suggestions appreciated!

Mammoth's better, but this is a lot closer.

I'd probably pick SLC,  if you want to fly, but Reno would be a decent option.

I'll have to Mapquest the distance to Mammoth.  I appreciate the Ski Las Vegas, but if I'm gonna do it...I want go big.   Thinking the easiest and most expensable route is to do the rental car from LV to the mtn resort...then fly home from there.

I've done what you are talking about a number of times with biz trips to Vegas and Phoenix.  A lot of the logistics though depend on your company's expense rules and level of strictness.  What I would do is look at the roundtrip price from Vegas to where you are.  Then, see if you can get two segements for the same or less money.  Meaning the company flies you to vegas and then flies you home, from either Reno or SLC.

Then, you pay the ticket price for the in between segment out of your pocket.  I've done both Reno and SLC this way.  You can catch the first flight from Vegas to SLC and be on the slopes by 10:30am.  If the dates are good, you could be skiing that first day free in Park City on the First Start free ticket deal.

Either way, it's worth it for two days for sure.  When I did Reno, I did Squaw one day and alpine the next and I stayed at a cheap hotel on the edge of Reno and drove back and forth.  If you're doing SLC, you can find cheap hotels in Sandy and drive (or take the bus) to BCC or LCC resorts.

You might need prior approval for the ticket or you might just ask forgiveness after but if the two segments are equal to or less than your roundtrip ticket, what's the big deal?

Doing the same.  Going to LV for HIMSS by chance?  I'm heading into SLC on the 17th.  PC area for free skiing in the afternoon, then Snowbird/Alta and/or Powder the next 3 days.  10.00 flight from SLC to LV on Monday night.  I pay the difference between what the cost would be for work and flight portion is less than $200 extra.  Chose SLC for accessibility since I could squeeze the most skiing in there in the shortest amount of time.

HIMMS exactly.  I'm trying to leave Vegas Saturday evening...ski Sun/Monday.

I'm thinking the same...Park City one day and Alta the next.   Renting a car/4wd with Hertz points.   $10 flight?  Best I found on Sat is $150 or so.

Sorry.  10 PM flight on Monday evening, not $10.  The difference in flight cost for adding the extra stop was about $170 for me.  So sounds like you're going the weekend after HIMSS.  I'm going the weekend before.

PC has tons of good restaurants.  One of the reasons to go there.  Been quite a few years since I've been there, so others will have better suggestions, but I remember having a very good meal at Zoom.  Re: hotels - I'm staying down towards SLC  - South Jordan I think.  Cheap and accessible to PC and the Cottonwood Canyons.

Hotels:  search for hotels in Cottonwood Heights and Sandy, UT.  There's lots of chain hotels there and you're a very short easy drive to both BCC and LCC roads.
