Is the Worst Western still open? It was a pit, and priced accordingly. Maybe you could find a trailer to rent in Granby. If you have capital, you could simply buy a studio in Snowblaze and sell it the following year. Maybe you can find a Snowblaze owner who will give you a reasonable price to rent for a month instead of a weekend. Snowblaze is right on all the bus routes, so you don't have to worry about the bus schedules. One goes by every few minutes. Snowblaze has (or had) a perfectly good hot tub, where you can listen to the tourons tell you about their amazing extreme skiing experiences on Cranmer.  rolleyes.gif  And you know that WP skiing has to be better next year than it is this year!

The WW must have been before my time.  The Best Western is now one of the nicer (and more expensive) places in town.  I've known peeps who got really good deals on dive condo sublets in Fraser but not for less than three months... not to say one month is out of the question.  Yes, Snowblaze still has a couple of hot tubs.  The outside one is pretty nice.

Housing in Whistler is very tight and would be the last place to look for reasonably price accommodation, never mind cheap, especially at Xmas. If you have to take Xmas Holidays as part of your ski time then Whistler is a crowded choice. Most ski resorts in the B.C. interior are far less busy than Whistler.

Teaching skiing at Xmas is not a vacation and most likely as a newbie instructor its glorified babysitting. And if its dumping, you are not skiing it, you are at work on the mountain.

Also skiing an overnight dump at Whistler is basically 2 runs and done.

I have nothing against the Fernie the mountain, but the town of Fernie is rundown and ugly. Although short stays are fine, I wouldn't want to stay there for a long period of time.

Make the decision after 12/12/12?  Some place is always going off early and that's were I'd go.  Lot's of good suggestions here, but most of these were having marginal skiing this year.
