Pay baggage fee or rent skis?

I'll be heading out to Vail in a week and was thinking of renting skis for the week instead of bringing my own. The baggage fees to bring my skis would be 50 bucks, but to rent (skis only) would be 82 (4days) bucks. What do you think, just go for the rental? I'll have my own boots but it would be nice to try some different skis. What do you all do?

At those prices, renting is a "no brainer"! Plus, you get to do extended demo's on different types of skis and match the skis to the actual conditions. My only question would be are you getting access to performance skis or from the average rental fleet?

Enjoy the luxury of not shlepping skis in airports!

It is actually for performance skis, so it seems like a great deal. Like you said I won't have to schlep the skis around either.

Unless your bringing good powder skis and all mountain rippers with you rent them there and get a good pair of powder skis and shred up the bowls
