Move Volkl/ Marker System Back 1cm From Factory Setting

Thread Starter

I'm very tempted to re-drill my Volkl Aurora skis mounting position back 1cm. Its a fun ski and it rips like crazy but I'm NOT your typical "woman" skier. I have had to catch myself from face-planting SEVERAL times and have almost done a summer salt. I know this is happening because I'm a forward skier and I'm TOO forward for the factory mount position. This was my first "womens" ski, I have ALWAYS skied mens skis since I'm very aggressive (in my opinion).  I really like the Aurora but I now wish I just went with the AC50.

Does anyone know about moving the mounting position? I've been looking at heli-coils and inserts but not 100% sure what would be best. If it doesn't work out like I want I'm just going to move the bindings back to factory and sell them, as my last resort.

The toe and heel pieces do not move on this model of ipt Wideride 12.0, 2010/2011. I have also asked the Volkl/ Marker rep but he didn't know any information that I didn't already know.

I had to look at the mounting system that Volkl uses.  It looks like a single screw locks down the whole unit.

There is a new insert called Quiver Killers.  Think about it as a snowboard like screw insert for a ski.  I have not seen it yet, but I like the concept.

If you can find a shop that handles Quiver Killers, make sure the tech has installed a few.

Good luck,

Dennis

Look for a mid 2000 Marker IBC either 14 or 16 din.  Check out evo.com

Din 16 $139.xx,  Din 14 $129.xx

You mount the plastic plate onto the ski, the foot can then be moved from

1cm forward to 1cm back of the mid sole position in 2.5mm increments.

I've found on my volkls I have to go about 10mm forward.  A Rossi SC80

7.5mm back.  A Nordica SUV12x  15mm forward.

Just my preference.

Won'thurt them a bit as long as you plug the holes with epoxy.

Move them forward too.

I's seen skis drilled five timeswith no obvious ill effects.

Most of the structural strength is at the edge.
