Go to Vimeo - turn on HD - make full frame. Cool.
This guy was using a flying wing - that's why it was going so fast. The heli platforms can ride along with the lifts, hover over jumps... shoot some really cool footage but, from what I gather, controlling one of these is both harder ..and more expensive that you would expect.
I have seen some nice, basic video posted on this site http://www.rcgroups.com/aerial-photography-128/ (model airplane video group) .. where the 4-rotor helicopter + camera + gimbal control system cost $8k -- to make nice, basic vids. There are even systems where the goggles on your head show what the camera is seeing in realtime. Wild stuff. ..too complicated for me.
Thanks for the links. Your original post sent me on several hours of research and watching RC aerial videos. There's some impressive clips out there with everything from professional equipment to home made rigs. There's also an RC copter for the Go Pro. I was pretty much kidding about it being my new hobby. We do have an RC flying field at the State Park by us. It's on my bike circuit, so I see them flying often. The RC jets are very impressive to watch. I haven't gone beyond the tiny indoor helicopters, but I did get good at that. Nope too much money and too many other projects going at the time for me. Interesting stuff though.
