Well, I'm neither a snob nor envious. Fact is, I own a Kjus jacket but didn't pay a fortune. So interestingly, I have the best of both worlds in my case, and can make an objective observation about the jacket. I will admit I did get my Kjus jacket because I got a once-in-a-lifetime deal on it, and I thought it would be kinda neat to own one. I don't think that makes me a snob or envious either way though.
I have tried MANY jackets in my day, and I will also say that the Kjus jacket wasn't terribly impressive. Forget about the price for a moment. The styling is kinda cool, but the functionality was woefully lacking compared to many other jackets. It's heavy, poorly fit (for my body, admittedly) in the arms, not terribly breathable, water resistance is questionable, zippers are far too small and finicky, the supposed "stretch" fabric doesn't seem to be at all stretchy, and the hood barely covers my head and isn't even an option if I'm wearing a helmet.
Again, forget about the price. In terms of styling, it's opinion whether someone thinks it looks good or not. But in terms of functionality, my Kjus jacket simply cannot compete with many others on the market.
Then, and only THEN (in my opinion), when you factor in price, the Kjus jacket fails miserably. I completely understand there's a premium to be paid for luxury items, I get that. And there's a certain degree in which lack of functionality and common sense may even be overlooked due to the luxury nature. But in my world, a ski jacket is meant to be skied in. It's meant to keep me warm, prevent me from getting wet, allow my body to sweat and breathe, allow me to open zippers without having to remove my mitts and expose my hands to the freezing cold, and be fairly lightweight while on the slopes. Sadly, my Kjus jacket does none of these. So I'm selling it, likely without losing money since I got such an unbelievably good deal on it, and have only worn it a couple times.
Is it stylish? Debatable. Is it overpriced? Perhaps. It is a functionally "good" jacket? Not at all.
