Rossignol 9X GS 188, 21r Feedback Please

After a long time away from the slopes, I skied a weekend with my super old 1986 vintage 203cm Dynastar SL's, FOR THE LAST TIME EVER!!!!!!!!! I did demo some K2 speedrockers for an afternoon (182?) with mixed results so I have acquired some 2002-2003 Rossignol 9X GS 188cm boards with the axial 140 binding/plate set up to beat up on for this season. The radius is a 21 with a 103-65-93 side cut so at least it's not a 27m radius.  I'm just looking to blast through some groomers for now.  Is the 2002 9X measurements considered, Modern or shall we say, "shaped" or is it still more of a straight?  Curious for feedback on How are these off the race course for groomers/hardpack. I'm 5'11 175#

Thanks

Charles

The 9x GS is a fun ski.  It has plenty of power and rips up the groomers.  This ski is definitely "shaped."

Thanks for the info, I'll try them this weekend and see how they run, I'll probably get a more modern GS cheater ski later...

That's a sweetheart setup; don't waste your money on "modern GS", ski that 9X until it dies and spend $ on ski trips and fatter skis.

Thanks for the advice.  Once I update the 390rd tyrolia bindings on my Atomic 225 downhills for a once in a while run, I'll seek some fatter boards.

Thats plenty of sidecut for a gs ski, Ive skied that ski in a 23 radius, and loved it. You'll have no problem laying trenches with them.

Based on a few runs I made on my Fischers RC4 GS boards with 21m radius and relatively the same side cut the Rossi's must be one hell of a ski... This is the best size-21M. GS skis for us mortals. Much more usable for freeskiing, or even gates.

Finally skied the 188 9x's and indeed they were sweet. I felt more comfortable with them than the avenger 76 carbons in a 172 I demoed the week before. They were not as lively but faster and more stable. The radius is listed as 22 on them. They didnt feel twitchy auto turni-ish like the avengers. Very quiet and dampened, suprisingly easy to ski for a gs racer for just crusing around. I'll ski them until the axial 140 bindings drop off the indemnity list.I cant believe how much ski I was able to buy for $89 and they were in immaculate shape for a 9 year old ski!
