Will be flying into Reno for a long weekend in South Lake Tahoe (yes I know the conditions are miserable...nothing we can do about it). Was wondering if it's worth renting a car or just taking the airport shuttle, which is slightly cheaper. We will be doing all our skiing at Heavenly and expect to spend most of our nights in or around the casinos/bars in Heavenly village, so I'm thinking a car is not worth it? But was looking for more experienced advice if possible.
Worth renting a car for Heavenly?

Scenario 1: You walk over the road from the casino to the gondola so no car is needed. Scenario 2: There's no way to ski from Cali to the Nevada side so you may need to use shuttles to get from the Cali side to ski the Nevada side. The shuttles are great but a car is more convenient. Scenario 3: Your rental car at Reno has an empty tank - fill it with 10 gallons of Shell and get a lift ticket (see if the ticket offer is for Heavenly: it might actually be cheaper to get a car :)
But of course, the snowgods will dump snow and you'll need to buy tire chains.
