I'm over my limit for handing out Feedback!

Thread Starter

I wanted to give a "thumbs up" to every person who responded to my Vermont resort thread, but after I handed out so many cred points it wouldn't let me do it anymore.

What is the limit per time period?

I think you get ten per day.

Yeah, it's irritating.  But..not sure it's ten per day.  I've logged in later and suddenly had more to hand out.

Oh, so THAT's how you have been able to deal out so muchrolleyes.gif

Is there some way to increase this limit?  I know I'm like the only one using this but I run out most days well before I'm done with reading the threads.  I HATE to have to create posts for just +1'ing things.  How about 25?

Should be doable. Tom? (FWIW I also use the cred button, although I don't think I've ever reached a limit. I think perhaps my moderator permissions bypass that restriction though).

just looked up what this "cred" thing is about . I guess I should start giving some - apparently I received some (belated thank yous in order)

No idea if the number makes me look either credible or is more likely a moron. I thought posted positive feed back was the way to go. This site should get fireworks popping up with a free lift pass if anyone ever hits 50% agreement.

It used to be (for like a day) visible in each of your posts, but there was an uproar about that and now someone has to go looking for the info on your profile.  I was surprised that that was even available.  However, what YOU see about your credit is not the same as what I would see.  The "more valuable" points awarded by... is it people with more cred?... aren't really visible to others, only to you.  Not sure what the math is there.

I can increase it, but like most "precious" things, an unlimited supply cheapens the experience. biggrin.gif

Wha'cha got in mind?

Have we gotten over the awkward phase to where we can display the feedback score under the user name?

Oh geeze, didn't realize that the EpicSki interface includes different views of the same post.  One of the aspects of Facebook I find confusing.

?  Not sure what you are referring to, I was talking about profiles.   Are you talking differences in "feedback" display between Purple and Default?  Or between New Posts and Activity Feed?  Not sure what you are talking about.  I can see MY Feedback in my post, but not YOUR feedback in your post.  For a brief period we could see other members' feedback in their posts.

I think we've built enough of a sample size up now that we can give it another go with displaying the score.

All I was looking for was more ability to give it out, don't care about the display.  I suddenly see ribbons for myself that weren't there earlier today, but still not seeing others' stuff.

I also see some things over  by my location which might be the "ribbons" your referring to. I never noticed them before. Is there any meaning to colour number or are those the dreaded "participant only" ribbon.  And because it's only a matter of time before someone else mentions it

"badges we don't need no ..... etc."

You get more ribbons the higher the number is below them.  They look like prize ribbons and are green.  At least mine are green...   Hmm....

What is this cred of which you speak? Is there a button where I can give someone cred? Can I tell if I have cred? Can I tell if someone else has cred? Is feedback the ribbons on my profile? Or is that cred?

And as a by the way--when I try to see either feedback people left for me or feedback I or anyone else left for other members, clicking on the drop down arrow doesn't show anything, just puts me at the top of the page. What's up with that?

I was referring to the idea that when I look at my posts, I see my feedback under Location (top right of a post).  But others are not seeing it.  So that means there is a difference in how the stuff in that box looks to people depending on who they are.  Also have come to realize that there are sections that are only visible to Supporters who pay or those who are helping out, such as Ambassadors.  So there are lurkers who don't Join, lurkers who Join but don't become Supporters, Supporters, etc.  All different in various ways.  Not an issue, just an observation.

See that green Thumbs Up next to Multi, Quote, Reply?  When you click on that, it adds a count to the Feedback for the poster.  Look at under your Avatar on your Profile page (click on My Profile in menu bar) and click on Feedback to see the details for yours.  I know you have a least one. wink.gif

Feedback (the thumbs up sign) gives you cred (the ribbons, but ALSO CALLED FEEDBACK) as I understand it.  Feedback does NOT EQUAL Feedback Received, mysteriously.

Oh, so there's some kind of calculus for converting feedback to cred. Seeing both my and other people's feedback gives me an idea of what people are interested in, which is cool, but being scored like an eBay seller seems a bit weird to me, but I don't care enough about it to have a suggestion or request

I turned those on today.  I have the option to make it invisible, visible only to the member, or visible to all.  Right now, the ribbons and score are visible and set to private.  I can set it so the score and/or ribbons are visible to all or none.  Last time we rolled this out...the word sh!tstorm comes to mind.

Once again, I don't care if the info is displayed or not, I'm just looking to be able to give out MORE thumbs up.  I suggested 25.

For what it's worth, while I think I can guess the theoretical value to the ribbons if visible to all, I wouldn't vote for the idea.  Having the Feedback count visible is more transparent since anyone can click on the number (if they realize that's a hot link) and view the details.  To me, the ribbons are just confusing because it's not at all obvious what they mean.

I think I'm going to randomly start giving thumbs up to people just to mess up the system. :sly:
