Margaritamarcia and I are heading to Aspen this Wednesday -- we are staying with a friend who lives in Basalt.  Who knows, with the recent snow, we might even ski!

Give Weems a big hug for me!

Best wishes!

If you go to Highlands, they have a new renovated mid mountain lodge.

Love the logo:

Could you get a photo for me of Cher there in the early 70's?

The one that was in the bathroom. Can't find it anywhere. Just take a shot of it in the frame.

Be careful what you eat...and drink plenty of water.

Thanks Marcia!

mm and I are having a splendid time.   I came with very low expectations snow-wise and have been pleasantly surprised to find conditions quite skiable:  hard pack and packed powder.  I brought my atomic accesses just incase, but have been enjoying my fire arrow 80s.

Tog, we spent the last two days at Highlands, but could find not find that picture of Cher anywhere. It appears that they renovated the pictures in the Merrygoround as well as the physical structure.  We did, however run across Weems and then Charlie MacArthur and had a great connection with each.  Weems was able to take a couple off runs with us, and of course could not help himself from giving us a couple of pointers which have already improved my skiing here.  Does not make up for the lack of ESA, but nice to prime the pump, so to speak.

We had dinner with Weems last night at a Tapas place in Basalt and hope to grab a beer with

Charlie.  Today we are heading to Snowmass and for fun Marcia is going to demo some skis.  Tonight we watch the New England/Denver game with friends.

So far, no crowds and no lift lines!  This all may change a little due to the holiday weekend and the fact that gay ski week begins.

By the way, our trip out here was almost delightful.   We flew into Eagle/Vail and set a personal record in going from deplaning to leaving the airport in the rental car, including picking up all luggage and a bathroom break.  (ya gotta find some pleasure in the little things....)

Bob, I thought it might be you I saw say hello to Charlie and Weems at the Merrygoround on Thursday.  I just wasn't sure, so didn't intrude to say howdy.  Schanzy and I were there, and I had the great experience of taking a few runs with Weems Wednesday morning.  We skied some great terrain at Highlands, including Canopy Cruiser, South Castle, and some stuff off of Thunderbowl.  I love Highlands.

Enjoy the rest of your stay in Aspen.

James, the pic of Cher is no longer in the men's room.  They do have some incredible historical photos spread throughout the newly remodeled restaurant, and it may have been moved to one of those...

You definitely SHOULD have said hello!   I thought that I saw Schantzy, but I do not think that he knows me...  How long will you be in the area?  (we leave Wednesday morning)

Sorry to miss you Bob -- I returned home last evening.  Enjoy the rest of your stay; they are predicting that Aspen is in the big snow portion of the snow track for Monday.

I love Highlands too.

How's the lodge now? Is it too schmanzy?

If you see weems, see if he knows about this during the day:

Where do you find this stuff James?  The lodge is tastefully done, in my opinion.  More importantly, the food is the same.
