Drought Skiing, pulling out some old boards as rock skis

My technique seems to change to a more old school approach when I put on my Snow Rangers. (they are around 25mm wider from waist to tip).

There is more sliding. There is a lot of "coma" in the lateral abdominals. there is no half measures or tentative moves, have to ski strong and clear.

The skiing is slower for the same amount of work and turn shape. Hard to keep up with folks on modern boards in places.

It's hard to look way forward when you're looking straight down for rocks eek.gif, making speed seem crazy fast.

Any idea if one can develop bad habits? Any technical advice?

There are so many rocks, I won't even take beat up older modern skis out or they will be permanently destroyed.

Thats what I did....and didn't stop at just the skis.

I have a whole fence of skis that might get some on snow time until we get the white stuff from the sky.

Hey, lookin' good Phil! you bought the good stuff back in the day.

If we can hook up, I'll bring my Atomic Arcs out and we can do some retro turns.

You can wear your new boots though, I can't take it that far.

I thought at N-star you could take care of your skis? still some sneaky rocks around? The group bought Nstar discount tickets for $40 for skiing this Wed or so. I can't make that though.

I will confess, none of this was mine back in the day, these were all "repurchases".

Who is going to be at N* Wed, anyone we know?
