Then when you're done dreaming about conditions you like, think about the conditions you ski at Perfect North. I'd be tempted to rent if I didn't ski often. In fact, I don't ski often and while I own skis, sometimes I rent. Do you have good boots that fit well?
Some ski area rental shops have better skis than the standard rental at a slightly higher price. The retail shop in the base lodge is another place you can probably find good quality skis for rent. These are called "demos". You can demo different skis each visit or possibly more than one pair/visit, which will help you decide which kind of ski you prefer. If there is a ski shop near you that rents demos, you can get them the day before your trip, which saves time spent getting gear in the rental or retail shop when you'd rather be on the hill.
The slopes at my local hills are mostly groomed, with a few mogul runs. I'm currently using 170s with 70mm waist and a moderate amount of sidecut. Something like that might suit you.
