Is the guy in blue an instructor or a safety monitor? anyone know? did Snowbasin mention it? It makes a difference IMO. Instructor deserves some space to do his job. Safety Monitor is just blocking something. who knows, especially while riding, what he is intending without clear marking. Also, what level of deference is required when approaching any staff member out there and how does a person know what the staff member is sanctioned to do. Is his function spelled out somewhere? Does he stand there waving his poles at everyone that goes by like our clueless safety monitors? I wouldn't have given a safety monitor a whole lot of room either. Does a resort have the right to hire just anyone to do important safety work, subjecting the paying public to that person's uninformed concept of what his job entails? I don't think so. It's like giving a D-student bully with a chip on his shoulder a sash and telling him to go out and be a hall monitor in junior high. not going to turn out well.
At first I thought the kids provoked the whole confrontation just to make a video for their site. not a bad idea, but not what happened I don't think.
