Figured Id start a group for all of us living down in NYC and on LI who make the crazy trips up to New England for our snow addiction.

Feel free to post ski info/shows/good ski stores/etc that are located in and around the NYC area

Brooklyn here. There must be more people from NYC here then just 2 of us...

Okay, Brooklyn here too! It's late so at this moment I just want to make my presence known --

Long island here, Season's over for me but just found this group by accident. I usually do about 20 days a year mostly in Vermont at Kiillington and a few others. This year I ruptured my bicep tendon on outer limits and my season ended abruptly. Best I can do now is get in shape and look forward to next year.

Bronx checking in.  Great idea for a NYC region thread.  I generally ski Catskills (Belleayre and Plattekill), but only skied three days in the east this season (Christmas Day at Hunter and two days at Belleayre for the ASIA Bumpfest).  I'm actually getting on a plane this evening to Seattle to ski Crystal three days.

Yes I'm one of those crazy New Yorkers who drive back & forth to New England regularly. I live in Brooklyn & usually ski around 40 days a winter. This year I only skied 28 days probably due to the poor snow year & a couple of days lost to rain. I spend  2/3's of my time at Killington (season pass already purchased for next year) but also ski other VT, NH, ME & oh yes sometimes NY ski areas. I've skied just about every ski area in the east at one time or another including Quebec. I spend most of my time at K because it's the closest place to my ski clubs house in VT. (about 20 min. drive). Besides K I skied Stratton once this year, Stowe 3 times, Sugarbush 4 times, one day at Jay, one at MRG & a couple at Pico. Didn't get around much this year, again probably due to poor snow. My last day on ski's this year was this past Sat. (April 21), beautiful day. I'm fortunate that I'm able to ski mostly during the week now days but was a weekend warrior for many years. Only skied two Saturdays this season, one in early Dec & this past Sat. Would of skied Sun. to but it was another day lost to rain. Occasionally I make trips out west but not this year. This past season was my 51st year on ski's, yes my parents were skiers & started me young. I'd love to share my tidbits of info with fellow New Yorkers. I buy most of my ski equipment & apparel in New England so I don't really have much knowledge about local ski shops. There were some great deals to be had this spring at New England ski shops. Picked up new ski's & warm up pants I've wanted this past weekend for 50% off retail, no tax. Today is the last day for early purchase pricing for passes at K. Here's hoping for a better 12/13 ski season.

hey guys.... another die-hard skier here from Long Island (Rockville Centre).  Normally drive up and back to Stratton or Okemo after a few days of mid-week skiing.  I don't much like the week-ends because of the crowds so I take off a couple of days from work. My son age 18 loves to snowboard so at least now I have someone who could drive me back in case I break my leg!  But the driving does begin to get tiring.  Stay in touch.  Thanks!!

Thanks for starting this group!  Long (island) overdue, and on the eve of a hurricane no less. beercheer.gif

Have a great season, and stay dry over the next few hours.

Going to Windham tomorrow and Hunter on Thursday.

Next week Jan 9-12 I'll be skiing Stowe.

Went to Belleayre pre-storm two days over Christmas, and the Friday after the snow. The skiing Friday was terrific, just about as good as it gets there. Everything was open, except the west trails, off of Tomahawk.

Skied Windham on Wednesday Jan 2. Only 1 trail closed due to thin cover. Fresh cordouroy was rippin until lunch.

Mountain was in good shape with the exception of the trails off the newer peak (looking up skiers left).

Skied Hunta yesterday Jan 3. Clairs was scraped off on West. Lower K27 was classic as it was closed the day before

for a snow gun whiteout. Fine manmade snow with a TON of grip , you could do no wrong.

Well, finally going to get out there! Planning to ski Stratton Monday & Wednesday, Okemo on Tuesday. Forecast looks pretty good -- should be great.

I skied Windham on Saturday and Okemo on Sunday this past weekend. Great days at both mountains with 26 runs and 34k vertical feet on both days. Going to Okemo for this upcoming weekend.
