Scary Spyder (Please Help !!!!)

Thread Starter

Hey there, this is my first time using this forum so apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I recently purchased a Spyder brand wind stopper from ebay, from a person who sold it as an unwanted gift. I'm not sure its authentic so I would appreciate any help from you guys ^^

No tags etc, as it was a gift...or as the story goes...

Any help appreciated, including model etc

The item feels really high quality, but i'm no expert (i'm barely a novice) so cheers for looking and I hope someone can help!

Logo on the front left looks a little bogus. I wouldnt buy any expensive outerwear from ebay...to many people selling bogus junk. My guess is the person you bouhgt it from got it off ebay and it was sold to them as a fake. Check there feedback and you might be able to see where they left feedback for someone in China who sold it to them

Thanks for the reply, I checked the feedback, but nothing from China :/ and the person had only bought bicycle/car parts off ebay so idk what to think. I agree with you that the logo on the chest looks strange, but it doesn't seem like any of the usually counterfeited items :s

Does the tag have a model name or number? If so, search and see if that model really exists. I agree... that front logo doesn't look authentic. You could also email the pictures to Spyder customer service and see what they say.

The chest logo pretty much seals it for me that it's fake.  The Spyder logo is always very crisp and that one looks very amateurish.  That said, if it seems well made use it and don't buy anymore Spyder gear on eBay.

Checked w/ the wife, she's a buyer. Never seen a logo sideways before.

Googling "Spyder logo" shows a variety of images, but one common theme seems to be that the spider's "back section" should have a red-cutout in it.

The logo in your pictures just doesn't look real.

I'd notify Spyder about it though; most companies are interested in catching counterfeiters.

Logo's fake. Can"t say if every real logo has the red belly, but the off axis placement and fizzy edges would never pass QC for the company.

I've only bought from genuine dealers so I am pretty certain that I have a real deal jacket with the cutout but not filled with red. I'll have to check my other stuff

Get in touch with the seller and let them know. Ebay is starting to stand behind buyers and will give you your money back if you got jived. Guy sold me some skis and said they were in good shape and I got them and they looked like they were used as rentals for 2 or 3 years and then as rock skis. Got my money back.......

Thank you very much everyone for your speedy and helpful replies, I am now convinced it is fake due to the replies from you guys, and from 1st hand experience as I tested it in some pretty miserable weather today.

1. Kept me dry, but cant say the same for my mobile/wallet ><

2. Did a fair job at resisting the wind, but when it got really cold and blizzardy!? I really felt the chill

3. The seller did offer full returns: "It was purchased for me as a gift, to the best of my knowledge it is genuine Spyder.

Feels the same material as my North Face windstopper.
As it was a gift, don't know RRP.
Auction winner is free to validate or return if they believe it isn't genuine.

I sent an email to Spyder to help confirm the details, but based on the performance of the jacket, i'm not going to wait for a reply. I'm gonna contact the seller and ask for a return :/

Bad gear can ruin the best laid plans...

Not all Spyder logos have red in the cutout.  I have three Spyder zip-neck t-necks, all bought from Spyder dealers, and none of them have that.  I also have a pair of Spyder pants that does have the red in the cutout.
