Alta Lodging Choices

Trying to keep things cheap as possible.

I have the option of a private Nordic Room at Peruvian or a similarly priced 4 man dorm at GMD. Which would you choose?

Im somewhat wary of the whole dorm thing (im 43), but prefer the ski i/o location of the GMD. Thoughts?

Also, is the group instruction at Alta pretty good? Its appealing at $50 for 2 hours.

Oh yeah...and this will be over Super Bowl Sunday. I know the rooms dont have TVs, whats the TV situation like in the lodges?

Never stayed at Peruvian, but did GMD in Jan 2011 and it's rustically elegant and located adjacent to the Collins high speed quad chairlift (~1,900-foot vertical) for primo access to the upper mountain. Old ski photos and prints line the walls and give it a museum-like quality. Our breakfast and dinners there were outstanding.  Can't remember tv situation, may be one in lobby, but surely for Super Bowl they will have something set up in bar or lounge.  I would not hesitate to try the dorm thing, your roommates will probably be more dignified, older and affluent than youwink.gif

Go with the private nordic at the Peruvian!  The Peruvian is a little further from the lift, but it includes lunch, has the best Apre bar and the run down Westward Ho at the end of the day is often the best run of the day.

I've stayed in the GMD, but not in the dorm.   I like the vibe at the Peruvian a little better.

The four man dorm room in the Peruvian is the same exact size as the nordic room, but with four people in two bunk beds.

I've done it and it's tight!

The main dorm room is much larger and roomier, but a private nordic is always my preference!
