Jackson Hole Ski-in/Out Lodging Suggestions

Would welcome any lodging suggestions that are centrally located in Teton Village. Looking to not use the car once in the village and be able to walk to whatever restaurants/bars/etc the village has to offer.

Saving money is always nice, but I'm traveling with my wife on our yearly ski vacation, so I'm willing to lay down the required financing.

Just looking for anyone with opinions on places they've stayed or are otherwise familiar with, basically. Thanks in advance.

From what I remember, just about everything is basically ski in/out in the Village.  The Village is small.  The Hotel Terra is pretty nice though.

That said, we always stay in Jackson, because that's where the majority of the restaurants, bars and shopping are.  My wife and I really like Cowboy Village.  They are small, individual log cabins.  Very nice, very clean and affordable.  Nice flat screens, kitchenettes,  decks with grill and free ski shuttle daily.  You can walk to everything in Jackson.  Never had a car, never needed one.

A lot of people stay in the Village, but honestly, there's just not enough there to keep us happy for a week.  After skiing that is, on the mountain, there's more than you can ski in a week.

Terra does look very nice, but very expensive as well. Looks like we're not likely to get one of the central village locations for < $200 / night.

Where exactly is the Hotel Terra in the Village? It doesn't show up on any of the maps I've found.

I think we're planning to stay two nights in Teton Village (and ski JH those days) and 2 nights in Jackson (and ski Targhee those days, or at least one of them).

The Hotel Terra is next to the Inn at Jackson I believe and below the Teton Mountain Lodge.  I have stayed there in the summer shortly after it opened and it was a good experience and a nice property.  It would not qualify as ski in/ski out I believe, but it is not a particularly long walk to the lifts either.

So true ski/in out in Teton Village is the Alpenhof, Snake River and the Four Seasons?

Not that I'm adverse to walking to the lifts a bit, but if the prices are the same ....

When I have been there, I stayed downtown once, in La Choumine condos once, and the Village Center Inn once.  La Choumine is small but quite nice, a short level walk from the lifts, but not quite ski in/out.

VCI is right next to the tram, but older, quirky, a little beat up - still liked it a lot.  I'm not sure what the VCI status is -- they were going to tear it down and build something luxe, but the mortgage meltdown may have saved it.

The Hostel (formerly Hostel X) and Best Western are very central.  Alpenfof is central and mid-range (great bar and restaurant).  Most of the rest of the truly close lodging is very nice and very expensive.

Beware shuttle-bus land.  The real estate listings include it as "Teton Village".

As I was grabbing this, I noticed that Google Street View now covers Teton Village very thoroughly - you can probably see exactly where you would walk between any lodging and the lifts!  (Ooops - fine print. Most of the images are from 2007.)

I've stayed at both Snake River and the Alpenhof. Both were well located, certainly, no complaints about either. Snake River is your more typical Western luxury resort hotel/spa thing, whereas Alpenhof is a bit Tyrolean old school, cozy and nice but not overly fancy. I'll probably return to Alpenhof, not sure about Snake River.

Favorite place in the area is the Rusty Parrot, which is a small inn in Jackson itself. Wonderful small hotel with a great restaurant. But it's in town. The Wort is nice too, right  in the thick of things, and has that old West feel.

Never stayed at Hotel Terra, but did eat at the restaurant, where I had the best Brussels sprouts EVER. Have only apres'd at the Four Seasons.

It looks like Terra is pretty darned close. If it's a really short walk, I could care less about ski-in/out. I just don't want to schlep a long ways in ski boots.

From what I remember, they are all basically ski in, but except for the Four Seasons, there is a short walk out. But very short.
