Bear down in Steamboat

Thread Starter

The one and only Finndog took an odd tumble today skiing from Thunderhead down to the Storm Peak Express and ended up taking a ride on the sled.  Unfortunately, blown ACL and dislocated shoulder.  He's propped up on a chair in his house in Steamboat probably sleeping by now.  Kudos to the Steamboat Ski Patrol and the Yampa Valley Medical Center for some top notch care.

That sucks! Hope he has a speedy recovery.

I have no words for how much this sucks..

icon13.giffrown.gifhopmad.gifhissyfit.gifnonono2.gifmad.gifth_dunno-1[1].gif

But, I am relieved it wasn't a major head injury or something even more serious.

Rest up, heal up, then rehab for next season. Heck, the way this one's going so far it might not be a bad one to take off.duck.gif

I'm superstitious enough to regret your having said that.

Good luck Finndog.

Actually, his saying that means it will now start going off...sorry Finn.

Pretty impressive doing the shoulder and the knee.

So sorry to hear about your injury, Finn.  I wish you a rapid recovery and rehab.

That's horrible and I'm very sorry to hear this news. Could happen to any of us anytime, and we are the fortunate ones if we avoid injury and get to continue skiing.

I wish you a speedy and complete recovery and twice as many days on the snow next season.

Wishing a fast recovery, but looks like the Gathering is out for our friend.

Bummer. Heal up good as new! Maybe we won't be able to meet up for some turns this season. frown.gif

Heal well my friend.

Words can't express how much this sucks.  Sorry to hear about Ron's misfortune.  Hoping for a fast and full recovery.

This is almost about the same point in the season when I went down 5 years ago.

So which skis and bindings was he on?

Sorry to hear. Heal up quick, Finn!

cgeib alerted us to this thread.  Awful news reading  of our friend's injury.  Say Greg...Betsy and I posted up on Ron's FB wall that we'd be happy to drive up to the boat and help him out...please let him know if he does not get online soon.

What a gesture Don. Greg Merz is there with him as is Ron's wife. I think he should be OK. It shows how awesome the Epic community is. icon14.gif

As you, TC, Ron and so many folks here have been for B and me last year.  Great friends have great support.  Ron can count on all of us!

Finn, I feel for you.  I had a tibia-fibula spiral fracture my first day last year.

I wish you a sound and healthy recovery, knowing that these things take time and patience.

Greg, thanks for keeping us all in the loop.

ugh. heal well.

Sorry to hear this Ron - so early in the season. Heal up well bud.

You probably should have come to Whistler with me like I suggested.
