I'm looking for a pair of Slalom skis for my Dad. He's looking at two different makes and models; 2011 Head WC iSL SW in 160cm, and Dynastar Speed Omeglass WC SL in 165cm.
48y/o, 145lbs ~, 5'6"
Very aggressive skier, 30+ years on experience, short turn lover, also loves moguls. Always in the upper 1% at any mountains.
Basically he's looking for a quicker turning ski then his Volkl Grizzlys, something that is similar to his Volkl Targa-R Slalom skis he had before. A ski that's great for quick turns but also something that works in the bumps, to him the Targa-R's worked well for his style and what he wants in a ski, even in moguls.
His main concern with going to these skis (Full on Race Skis) is that they; will be to much ski for something he can ski on all day long. Despite being a Slalom ski won't be able to cruise on them, worry that at higher speeds they might catch an edge to easily, and lastly something that he would be able to also ski in moguls. Like I mentioned before he used to use slalom skis for bumps also and loved them.
So should any of these be of concern?
All comments and and information is greatly appreciated. If you have any question that could help me decide between the two just ask!
Please no suggestions on different skis, it's between these two as I have a chance to get both at up to 50% off for brand new (last years skis).
Edit: Also regarding the lengths, yes they are long for a slalom specific ski, but like I mentioned he want's something that is stable and can cruise at higher speeds on, which is why he's looking at the slightly longer length for a slalom ski.
