The trip i was planning to take with the wife has been deep sixed due to childcare issues. Really unfortunate, but i am still planning on going skiing somewhere the 1st week of Feb. Feb1-5. I would fly in either Wednesday or Thursday and hopefully back to the east coast in time for the Super Bowl. I could possible stay over Sunday night and fly out Monday morning. So, i wanted to get suggestions. Still a chance i might find a friend to go, but right now, im not counting on it.
Being its just me and im pretty easy, id like to do this as low cost as possible, as opposed to the mega bucks i was gonna spend with the wife. (i have another boys trip to The Canyons planned later in the spring).
My goals for the trip are 1. Have Fun 2. Get some instruction 3. improve my skiing.
I have been to DV, PCMR and Telluride in the past.
I am leaning to Utah, due to the convenience, and that US Air flies to SLC and I have a $500 voucher i need to spend. But im not locked in. I dont really want to do a ton of driving but will drive some if necessary. Id like to have at least a halfway decent bar to visit in the evenings and some decent food.
So far, ive thought about Alta. One of the dorms would be cheapest of course, but im a bit concerned about, as one person put it, Roomate Roulette. The all inclusive meals and the Lodge type atmosphere appeals to me and seems like it would be good for a solo traveler.
Im also interested in Powder Mountain. I know there are a couple of places to stay in Eden, the cheapest ive found is $145n. Ive heard of people staying in Ogden, and the Marriott is $119 night those days, but im assuming would miss the "ski area feel", which i do like. They mention the "Ogden Ski Bus" on the marriot site, but i cant find any more info about that anywhere.
any ideas would be appreciated
