Do Last sizes change with Mondo sizes? Kryptons

I've tried to look for this answer but due to the generic nature of the word "last" it has yet been a fruitless search.

I'm currently in a pair of 29.5 2005/6 Dalbello Avante V9 with a BSL of 336.  I've been looking at going to a 3-piece as I'm an avid mogul skier (current setup is Pivots on F17 Classic) and have my eye on the Krypton Cross ID.  I tried on the regular model (non ID) as that is all the store carried.  In the store it felt quite snug/tight but not unbearable.  The boots are listed as 98mm but wanted to know if that is based on a certain Mondo size or if all the lengths have the same last.  I went to another store who only carries the Voodoo and only had them in a 28.5 so i tried them, but ultimately didn't like the different tongue setup on these (still a 3-piece but just not the same).  Since the Voodoo and Boss are both listed at 103, i was thinking this would help me decide if i should order the boss, but due to the different tongues i have decided against that.

When i do a shell fit in my current boots i have about 2 fingers...i think.  I also just measured my foot at home on a ruler and come in just a shade below 28.5 cm and about 100- 105 mm wide at widest point.  Based on this, should i actually be looking at 28.5 mondo?  I have 2 skis set up with Pivots for BSL=336 and am concerned about having to remount them for a new BSL as they may only have 7 mm travel in the arms, but i am also trying to keep an open mind.

I find my current boots moderately comfortable, but find i unbuckle them on the lifts.  on another thread on here i mentioned this and one poster thought it had to do with boots too big that i am overtightening.  This could be the case, but if so is it more likely a width or length issue?  will a longer 3 piece/3 buckle matter as much since the middle buckle keeps you in the back better?

Also, i'm fairly certain i want the ID model and i haven't been able to locate any places that have them so online may be my only option.  with that said, should the fit be fairly similar to the standard non-ID model?

Lots of questions and ramble, but to summarize:

  1. does the last change with the mondo?
  2. does a 28.5 cm measure definitely mean a 28.5 mondo?
  3. Any thoughts on the Krypton tongue versus the Boss/Voodoo tongue?
  4. is accurate length as important in a 3 piece boot?
  5. is a 100 - 105 mm (with sock) foot too big to reasonably get into the Krypts?
  6. Will the regular liner (in store to try) serve as an accurate sizing tool as compared to the ID(actually what i want)?

Thanks for any answers to these questions.  Also, as i see often, try them in store and buy what fits which i've been trying to do but no luck yet.  I'm near Blue Mountain/Collingwood so if anyone has suggestions on where to go then please pass it along.

1. Yes, the boots are to scale, as they get bigger they get bigger... everywhere not just longer.

2. Not always. The way the foot fits the shell is everything, the number on the box is of no importance.

3. The Krypton is what you want if you are looking for the 'classic cabrio' feel.

4. Yes.

5. No, not at all.

6. The regular liner will give you a better feel for the boot than the iD liner... but do a shell fit.

Thanks for the rapid response!

Hopefully i'll be heading to Collingwood this weekend and will get some of these on my feet.  Any Dalbello suggestions in the area are welcomed.  I'm going to the sporting life to try the Full Tilts, but from what i've read i'm not convinced they will work on my feet.  Time will tell.

thanks again.

Kryptons and most Dalbellos run slightly long so I don't think you need a 29 typically to fit a foot that measures 28.  I'd look at 28s.
