Should I get my skis mounted at a sports store or a skiing store?

Thread Starter

I bought a uses pair of skis with Marker Bindings on them. I need them professionally remounted to fit my boot. (I want them center mounted so adjusting the bindings wont work in this case).

Should I go to Sports Authority and get it done for 30 or should I go to Colorado Ski and Golf and get it done for 35$?

Sports Authority is much closer and five dollars cheaper but I worry that they wont do a good job because the store its self doesn't specialize in skiing.

Does anyone have any experiences with this? Any Suggestions before I let people drill holes in my skis?

If it were me, I'd be all over the dedicated ski place, just because.  Sweeping generalization: I don't trust the help at big box stores.  Too much movement between departments as well as ham and eggers in positions they have limited knowledge in.

It's $5 bucks, man.  Go to the ski-centric joint.

one time i brought these skis into a store in breck and the foot piece was so obviously off it was pathetic and like a chump i just let it go. Recently on my new lines rei mounted them and caught there own error and replaced the skis. Sports authority does sound lame, given the choice i'd go with ski and golf and hope for the best

The fact that you're asking answers the question.

I can hear the SA shop guys: "we mount all bindings in the center."

I can't even believe the question is being asked.

Your auto mechanic might mount the bindings for $27.50.

OP, I guess you get the idea, go to the ski shop. Better safe then having to pay the co-pay at the ER.
