Stowe this weekend?

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of doing a run to Stowe this weekend. How is the snow there? Trying to make it for the Stowefest Demo Day, but would hate to see a closed mountain at the end of 6 hour drive...

Thanks!

I'm not up there but my buddy who is tells me there's very little snow.  From what I understand, the mountain is open, but the 18 inches they got Thanksgiving weekend has basically melted away.

Coverage on the one and half groomed run has spot of bare but it is not thin. tonight we should 3-6 inches and the return of the snowmaking temps.

The mountain wont be closed thats for sure.

It will be open but basically no trails open?  What would be the point of going especially on a weekend.  I'd expect lift lines, or should I say the lift line, to be long and all for a few lousy runs.  I've got same problem regarding Killington.  Supposed to go up week before Christmas.  Looking very dicey and K has or at least had better snowmaking coverage than Stowe.  This is why eastern skiing sucks although they are getting relatively poor start out west too.

Looking over the map, looks like they had 7 trails open today. I know 7 is not far off from being completely closed... and I agree, it probably is not worth the 6 hour drive, but... I finally want to open my skiing season and I really want to demo DPS W99s - there is nothing on DPS site about upcoming demos, so I'm thinking that this will be my only shot this year at riding on them short of purchasing them sight unseen.

stowe claim of 7 trails is like every other resort except MRG in vermont. Stowe's 7 trails is really a 1 trail and half.

With that said they are looking at opening another route soon and have solid snowmaking temps for the foreseeable future.
