Wall Sits and Static Squats... ski boots, or shoes?

If you're gonna do these two quad exercises, is it best to do them in ski boots, or just street-shoes?

Let's back into this...

Are wall-sits or static squats better?

I pick neither. :)

Not a fan of either exercise. I know some skiers like them, but I think there are better choices.  Now if I had to pick, I'd choose static squat because wall sits take the core out of the exercise. But I'd pick front squats over static squats given the option.

Please show us your variations of both - a link to YouTube would be perfect.

I wouldn't worry too much about footwear, but make sure you choose a base layer that doesn't restrict your range of movement.

Honestly, I'd think doing a free skate at the local rink would be a much better dynamic compliment along with traditional free weight squats for both legs and core.

What is a static squat?

Maybe I got the wording wrong (and I don't feel like looking it up now), but I thought a "static squat" is where you squat down to 90 degrees and hold that position for however long.

Basically, a wall-sit with no wall.

I'm interested; perhaps, but it will be a while.
