race plate for Volkl racetiger junior

I messed up and bought a pair of Volkl Racetiger Jr (148cm) without a race plate - they normally come with a Marker Jr.  I haven't been able to find a Marker Jr.

What are my options?

1) Find another plate.  If so, what brand of plate, where can I find them, and what brands of bindings will they take?  If the plates are not Marker Jr, how can I determine if the plates will fit on the Racetigers?

2) Buy another pair of skis with plates and take the plates off of them to mount on the Racetigers.  If so, does it matter the brand of the ski/plates?

3) Tell my daughter that I messed up and tell her that her new skis to be used as paperweights.

In the pass Volkl Jr skis did not hve plates. This year they came with plates. Marker has plates in stock for you ski. I ordered one for an OGASAKA ski s team.

Is it a racetiger race stock ski? Or just a racetiger jr ski?

It is a World Cup Racetiger Jr, 149 (not 148 as originally posted)

Plates are very expensive if individually bought. I think the Volkl stocks Marker Jr. race plates for their EPS bindings. How about hitting a swap shop and see if you can find a pair of cheap Volkl/Nordica (or whoever else uses Marker) with beat up edges/base and salvage the bindings and/or plates off them.

So far options 2 and 3 are my best choices - 1) buy yet another pair of skiis for the plate and bindings or 2) making them into paper weights.

Do you have a binding yet?  If not your options are pretty wide open.

I'm partial to this option:  http://www.tyrolia.com/ski-bindings/ski-binding-line-201112/plates/raceplate-junior/index.html

The good news is that it means you don't need to put Markers on them.

Any plate should be compatible with the skis.  The compatibility issue is between bindings and plates.  Predrilled plates need to be matched with bindings that use those holes.

I've had good success with Tyrolia plates generally, and the bindings are generally reasonably priced.  And yes, my money is where my mouth is:  this year, my daughter will be skiing 175 Volkl Racetiger GS with Tyrolia plates and 14-DIN FreeFlex bindings.

Where did you find the Tyrolia plates, and are they a junior or adult size?  Do you have an opinion as to whether they would fit on a 149cm Racetiger?  I haven't started calling stores yet, but I haven't seen Tyrolia or Marker plates on the web for junior skis.

Also, how old and how large is your daughter?

Again, the issue is compatibility with the drill pattern for the bindings, not whether the plates are labeled "junior."

To the best of my knowledge, all reasonably modern Tyrolia bindings that are not either: (a) child only (which is a different boot sole norm than any kid on a 149cm ski would use), (b) demo bindings, or (c) RailFlex, use the 92W drill jig.  That means that all those bindings are compatible with the same plates.

Thanks, I'll look into them.  Do you have a recommendation for where I might find some?

Unfortunately, Level Nine doesn't appear to have any on their website, but you might contact them to see whether they're just not listed.

Denver Wholesale Skis appears to have the Tyrolia predrilled Power Plate and UltraFlex Plate for $60 each (both are pre-drilled for Tyrolia bindings, and I really don't know what the difference is between them), Vist plates for $85 (predrilled and probably require Vist bindings), and undrilled Head plates for $100 (expensive, but you can mount any binding on them).

You might also contact race specialists, like Start Haus and Artech.
