On Sat. Dec 3 the opening of the Burfield Chairlift marks the 50th year of lift serviced skiing on Tod Mountain, now called Sun Peaks Resort. The rest of the mountain opened two weeks ago but to honor the occasion of skiing off the Burfield Chair, lift tickets for the entire resort are half off.

While the black and double black diamond runs under the lower part of the Burfield Chair will remain closed, there is lots of snow on the upper mountain and several runs that the other chairs do not access so first tracks will be available..

They are also having a band play in the village,  a ``Miss Tod Mountain``beauty pageant, and a 60`s ski attire contest. However on Monday Dec.5 is the annual food bank fund raiser---Ski for a Toonie (2$ coin) plus a Food Bank Donation Day and that is when the one day per year skiers come out in their for real 70`s gear.
