Hey. I was looking at finally buying my first pair off skis. Was wondering firstly whether you recommend buying new skis or looking at used or older models?

 

Now regarding these specific models. I demo's the Rossignol S3's last year and thought they were a good pair of skis. I ski in Tahoe and can ski all levels of trails, and like to venture into the powder as well. Was wondering if anyone had any good points between these skis. 

 

Lastly had a couple specific questions when buying new equipment. Regarding size, I am 6'1" and about 170 pounds. Should I go for the 178 or 184's?? 

 

Also, when looking at bindings and boots any specific recommendations that don't break the bank but will work well with this type of ski?

BOOTS FIRST!!!!! Get your boots first. Boots are more important than the skis. Did I mention to get the boots first?
 

Now to the two skis that you mentioned. Either are fine and will work super..with the right boots. cool.gif You marry your boots and date your skis.

 

I would suggest for your size, to get something in the mid 180 range for Tahoe skiing. But take care of the boots first, then skis. There are some great fitters in the Tahoe area that can help you with BOOTS! biggrin.gif
